PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Flexible Campus Experience

Study at SAIIE, the University of Seville, or both, depending on your course choices.

Program focus

Choose a 4-week session or combine sessions for a 6-week summer experience. Earn 3 U.S. semester credits per session, with the option to add an additional 3-credit course for an extra fee and earn up to 9 credits over the summer.

Language Requirement

No prior Spanish required. Spanish-taught courses require 5 semesters of college-level Spanish, except for Spanish language courses.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Study in Seville during the Summer Session while earning U.S. semester credits. Choose one 4-week session or combine both for a 6-week summer experience, with courses taught at the SAIIE Study Center or the University of Seville.

Summer Course Options

Take one 3-credit course per session. Students combining both sessions may add an additional course for an extra fee, with the opportunity to earn up to 9 U.S. semester credits over the summer.

Program Costs

Summer Session I or II: $3,750

Summer Session I & II:  $5,850


Program costs include:

  • SAIIE tuition and program fees
  • Airport reception and orientation
  • 24/7 on-site support
  • Accommodation with most meals and weekly laundry
  • Welcome and farewell meals

Out-of-Pocket Costs Include:

  • UW-La Crosse Education Abroad program fees and support services before, during, and after the program.
  • UW-La Crosse Transcript.
  • Mandatory CISI health and medical evacuation insurance.
  • U.S. Passport ($135)
  • Airfare (estimated at $1,200 – $1,500)
  • Meals not included with accommodation (estimated at $150)
  • Mandatory International Student Identification Card (ISIC) ($25)
  • Local transportation (estimated at $50). However, most Spanish people walk or grab the bicycle around the city.
  • School supplies and books (estimated at $10)
  • Optional program activities (estimated at $300)
  • Optional day trip to a beach town (estimated at $50 – $100)
  • Additional travel and personal expenses (will vary based on students’ spending habits, travel plans during breaks, etc.)

Additional Credits

  • Students enroll in one 3-credit course per session.
  • Students who wish to take additional coursework may enroll in an additional 3-credit course for an additional fee of $1700.
  • Students may not exceed 9 U.S. semester credits during the summer program.

Requirements

Students participating in the Summer Program must:

  • Have completed at least one full-time semester of college by the start of the program.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale.
  • Be in good academic standing at their home institution.
  • Enroll in at least one 3-credit summer course per session.

Spanish Language Requirements

  • No prior knowledge of Spanish is required. Spanish-taught courses require 5 semesters of college-level Spanish, except Spanish language courses.

Academic Credit & Transcripts

The University of Wisconsin–La Crosse (UWL) serves as SAIIE’s official School of Record, awarding U.S. semester credit and issuing official transcripts for approved SAIIE coursework.
