Where will I work at?
La Residencia San Juan de Dios is a private catholic care home for the elderly, focused on the well-being of its residents. It is located no more then a 5 minute walk from the SAIIE center.

What will my role be in the home?
Providing the residents with companionship, for example; playing bingo, going for walks, having a chat. A lot of the residents do not have family visiting them so these visits can really help them.

Is there a language requirement?
This role does require a minimun level of intermediate Spanish as you will need to talk to the residents.

Are there any prerequisites skills needed?
No specific skills required. However students must be helpful and friendly in the residency.

Can I receive academic credit for the experience?
At the moment, academic credit is not available through the SAIIE nor the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, we hope to have credit-bearing experience available in the near future. However this will be valuable and rewarding experience which you can add to your resume. If you would like to receive credit for this activity you must talk to your University and see what our their requirements.

What is the typical time commitment for each opportunity?
This depends on the student and their schedule but most students volunteer a minimum of two days per week for a couple hours each day.

Where will I teach?
CEIP Lora Tamayo is a public school in the outskirts of Seville in the neighbourhood called "Bellavista". Students can get to the school by public transportation (bus or train)

What ages/grades are served?

Kindergarden (ages 3 to 6)
Primary (ages 6 to 11) 
Secondary (called ESO) (ages 11 to 12)

What types of volunteering opportunities are available at CEIP Lora Tamayo?
Students will help in the English language classes as assistant teachers.

Are there any prerequisites skills needed?
No specific skills are required.  However, students must be willing to help and make a commitment.

Even though it is recommended you speak a little Spanish, it is not required. However, you should be eager to learn.

Students will work with faculty at CEIP Lora Tamayo and the program coordinator at SAIIE.

Don't worry SAIIE can help you set up an account if you do not have one yet.

What should I blog/vlog about?

Write/film about your daily experience in Seville while studying abroad, housing experiences, classes, activities with SAIIE, and outside when you're with your classmates or Spanish friends, as well as, your trips around Europe, and whatever you can think about.

How often should I post?
If you're writting a blog we require our students to post a minimun of 3 times per week, and if you're vlogging 3-4 times per week

No specific skills are required.  However, students must be willing to help and make a commitment. Also we please ask to remember that we will not allow any innapropiate images to be posted.

Who will the students be working with?
The SAIIE director will be monotoring the content.

Will I receive any financial benefit (in form of money) for blogging/vlogging for SAIIE?
No, but all of our students that participate in this activity will receive a free SAIIE t-shirt.

Padres Blancos School is a private catholic institution in Seville, well reputed for its education, faculty, facilities, and resources. It is located no more then a 30 minute walk from the SAIIE center.
