Spring/Fall

We require students to take at least one Spanish language or literature class, whatever the student’s level, however no prior knowledge of Spanish is required. Students study Spanish language at the appropriate level and have the choice of taking the remainder of their courses in Spanish or in English, depending on their level of fluency.

In addition to required language study, all students (except those taking the intensive language track) are also enrolled in the Artistic Monuments of Seville course (taught in English or Spanish) which provides an intentional introduction to and immersion into the city of Seville.

Students study about Spain while living in Spain so that the classroom experience complements, reinforces, and enhances the intercultural experience.

  •     Liberal Arts Courses: offered in English and Spanish.
  •     International Business Track: offered in English
  •     Spanish Language Courses: available at all levels

Intensive Language Track

Designed for students at beginning and intermediate levels who want to focus solely on the acquisition of Spanish. Students cover four levels of Spanish (16 credits) in sequence, so it is not possible to take liberal arts or international business courses at the same time. The semester calendar parallels the calendar in the Liberal Arts/International Business Track so that students can still participate in the optional field trips or cultural activities if they wish.

Intercambio Program

We run a successful exchange program of “intercambios” (exchange partners) where we assign every student an intercambio partner, a native Spaniard with whom to meet at least once a week. The intercambio activities take place outside the classroom so students can practice their Spanish in a fun and relaxed environment.

Written compositions on the topics assigned will be submitted to the Instructor. In these compositions students will demonstrate the cultural contents acquired through social interaction with natives as well as developing Spanish writing skills.

Tutoring

There is a Spanish Language tutor available every class day to assist students with their language skills. Classes are held Monday-Thursday, with Friday-Sunday available for field trips and free time.
