PROGRAM STRUCTURE AND REQUIREMENTS


This program is designed for students from begginning to advanced level of Spanish. 

Students may choose between the following, amongst other various subjects:

  • SPANISH LANGUAGE COURSES (From beginning to advanced level)

  • SPANISH LITERATURE COURSES

  • SPANISH CULTURE COURSES 

  • BUSINESS COURSES
  • ART COURSES

  • HISTORY AND ANTHROPOLOGY RELATED TO SPAIN, EUROPE AND LATIN AMERICA COURSES

  

 

Please note:

 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

  • Have completed at least one full-time semester of college at the time of application and have at least sophomore standing at the time of participation.

  • A student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 GPA (semester applicants)* or 2.25 GPA (winterim or summer applicants)**

  • A student must be in good academic standing at the time of participation.

  • No prior knowledge of Spanish is required. However, if you choose a class taught in Spanish from the University of Seville or SAIIE (except the Spanish language courses), you will need to have studied a minimum of 5 semesters of Spanish at university. This condition is crucial for the correct understanding and participation of the student.

  • Each student must take between a minimum of 12 credits and a maximum of 18, per semester. Each class consists of 45 class hours, worth 3 credits except SPAN 3100 (Intercambio Activity), worth 1 credit.


*If your GPA is below 2.5, you are not automatically disqualified from studying abroad. Please contact SAIIE for more information.

**Students with a grade point average between a 2.0 and 2.25 may be considered on a case-by-case basis for winterim and summer terms at the discretion of SAIIE. 

 


COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  • It is mandatory that every student takes the ART 3800 class (Artistic Monuments in Seville taught in Spanish) or ART 3900 (Artistic Monuments in Seville taught in English) taught at the SAIIE center.

  • A 3 credits Spanish language or literature course:

    -Spanish language courses are offered at SAIIE and US (Universidad de Sevilla) from beginning to advanced level.   

    -Spanish literature courses are offered for students that have completed at least five semesters or equivalent of college-level Spanish.  

  • Take a minimum of 2 classes at the University of Seville taught in English or Spanish.

Fall 2024 Program Cost*

- $12,500 for Wisconsin Residents, Minnesota Residents, and Students from Co-Op Institutions

Please note:

  • SAIIE will drop $1,000 from the overall fees for ACADEMIC YEAR LONG students.

  • UW-Platteville support services before, during, and after the program
  • Mandatory CISI health and medical evacuation insurance
  • SAIIE full-time tuition and fees

ACADEMIC CREDIT, GRADING, AND TRANSCRIPT

When you are accepted into the SAIIE program you should inform your academic advisor and study abroad office at your home campus about your intent to go abroad on our program to make sure you will receive all the credits that you take through the SAIIE program.
