Congratulations on your decision to study abroad in Seville, Spain with SAIIE! In order to get your study abroad experience started, you will need to begin filling out the online application for our program on the UW-Platteville Education Abroad website! They are always happy to help and can answer any questions you may have about our programs.

Interested students should apply as soon as they have determined that the program will meet their personal and academic goals. Qualified candidates are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Notification of acceptance is sent approximately 10 days after all application materials have been received.

Eligibility

Program requirements:

  • A student must have at least sophomore standing at the time of participation.
  • A student must have a minimum cumulative 2.25 GPA (semester applicants)* or 2.0 GPA (winterim or summer applicants)**
  • A student must be in good academic standing at the time of participation.
  • No prior knowledge of Spanish is required except for the Intensive Spanish Language program where a student must have 2-3 years of high-school Spanish or 1 semester college – level Spanish. 

Students are not required to have a minimum language proficiency for any program, but courses taught in languages other than English will have specific language proficiency requirements.

**Students with a grade point average between a 2.0 and 2.25 may be considered on a case-by-case basis for winterim and summer terms at the discretion of UW-Platteville Education Abroad and SAIIE.

How long does it take to get accepted?
It generally takes 5 business days after the application deadline to notify you of your acceptance.

Should I wait to submit all my application documents at the same time?
No. Turn in every form as it is completed in any order. We will keep all forms from you together until your file is complete.

What if I'm not sure about when I want to go, can you keep my application on file?
Yes. You only need to apply once. You only need to pay a one-time application fee. We will keep your application on file until you decide when you want to go.

How do I know if a part of my application has been received or not?
Simply give a call to the study abroad office at UW-Platteville (1.800.342.1725) or email (Esta dirección de correo electrónico está siendo protegida contra los robots de spam. Necesita tener JavaScript habilitado para poder verlo.). They can quickly and easily see if a part of your application has been received and what you still need.

How many participants do you take in the program?
There is limited space and due to high enrolment we do encourage students to apply as early as possible.

Can I still apply if I have below a 2.5 GPA?
All applications will be considered. However, we may request additional information to assess your candidacy.

Can I still apply a few days after the deadline?
Yes you can but please contact the study abroad office at UW-Platteville.

Who do I address my materials to?
You do not have to send to anyones attention in particular. Simply use the following mailing address:

Is it OK if I just fax in all my application forms?
You can and should fax your forms to the office at UW-Platteville (608.342.1736) if it is close to the application deadline. However; we require original signed documents for your application to be complete for review. All sport program forms must be sent to the Planning and Development Director and Coordinator of Sports Programs, Sean Chipres, by mail or can be scanned to Esta dirección de correo electrónico está siendo protegida contra los robots de spam. Can I use my home school's application forms?
While we prefer you use the UW-Platteville official application forms, we have made exceptions to permit use of a student's home school's application forms. Please check with the study abroad office at UW-Platteville to make sure your home school's application forms are sufficient.

Is the application fee refundable?
No, the application fee is not refundable.

Is the application fee part of the program price?
No, the application fee is not built into the overall program fee.

Is it okay that my application forms arrive before the application fee?
Yes, you can submit all parts of the application without paying the application fee; however, your file will not be reviewed until the application fee is paid.
